Do oil companies hire candidates with Finance background?
-
Hello, I am from Canada and in my country oil companies hire many Bachelor of Commerce graduates. I do not have a Bachelor of commerce degree but I have "BSc in Math and Econ (double major)" and "MA in Econ and Finance (double concentration)". I took many graduate level finance courses while doing my MA. do you think the oil companies will like my education background? Is there any chance for me to get hired by oil company? thanks

Answer:
Yes. Oil companies need math, finance and economics majors in their finance departments. Though those departments tend to be fairly small and opening are rare. Your educational background would be suited for a financial company, in the finance industry or as a part of an economic think tank.
