Just about any time you start up a new checking account your bank will offer to order checks for you with the cost being subtracted directly from your account-nothing newsworthy there-very common. Sadly too many people just agree to this because it's convenient. Because of the convenience, the price is usually hefty. I recall crazy charges of something like $35+shipping for just one or two boxes of checks from these companies. Not that they are bad but it's a convenience-and they are charging you accordingly. They are WAY cheaper, do just as good of a job in every way but just require you do place the order yourself. All of 2 minutes of work!
