Lemon law or other recourse?

Lemon law or other recourse?

  • My vehicle is currently at the dealership service garage, for the fourth time, for the same issue. My car has stalled several times, sometimes in the middle of traffic or an intersection. the rpms would jump as if i were reving the engine but i wasnt. It would do this while in idle as well as when driving. My warranty is up in less than 3000 miles and besides the concern for my safety when the vehicle stalls in traffic, I am not thrilled at the thought of spending $300-$500 every couple of months for the same issue. Is there anything I could do about this? I live in NV, its an 08 chevy aveo. From what i understand, NV lemon law says it has to be within the factory warranty period or within a year of taking ownership. It is still within warranty but obviously its been a couple of years... is there anything i can do or am i stuck with looking forward to that $400 expense every 3 months? thanks

  • Answer:

lemon law and buy backs only are done if under the first 12 months and 12,000 miles....after that it is very rare and unusal that you could get a dealer to do anything about it other then keep trying to repair it and hope they finally fix it... but if under that time frame for lemon law the dealer has up to 3 attemps to correct the car, if not then buy back or lemon law would fall into play. check your local state laws cause each state is different and see what they are and then maybe even call a lawyer that specilizes in lemon law cases and they can tell you the miles and age requirements
