How to prove someone hit you car.?

• My boyfriend's taillight was knocked out of his car Sunday with damage also to the trunk and back bumper due to someone backing into his car. Our upstairs neighbor drives a large truck. He was parked directly behind my boyfriend before the incident occurred. The cops came and a police report was filed but we did not suspect the neighbor until later when he came home and his car was wet from being run through the car wash! There is also a dent on the neighbors truck where the impact would have took place. Since this so called hit and run the neighbor has become extremely shady. Looking out windows, parking his truck to where his back bumper can't be seen. Is there a way to prove that he actually did it without paint being on his truck? Also could we let the police know that we believe we know who did it? Thanks!!

  To be honest that is mostly all "circumstantial" evidence at this point. I do not exactly know how the legal system works in a case like this but I suppose you could see if the imprint of the dent on his truck actually matches the dented damage on your car. You can ask to see if anybody in the neighbor hood witnessed the event. Are there any tire marks on the ground that seem to prove it was your neighbor? Any debris left behind from the neighbors car? Have you had a chance to actually inspect your neighbors car without them knowing? I know that seems sneaky but I say if they are being shady around you then you might as well. Unfortunately if you cannot come up with any clear evidence that this was the case, I believe you are stuck dealing with this issue yourself. Sorry. Hope that maybe helped a bit.
