When cars have that ORANGE tape around the windows what does that mean?

Why do people say Imports or European cars out last American cars?

  • When they don't. I got a 74' Ford that I have Used and Abused the Hell out of and it STILL runs. I have used it for Construction, Towing, Farming, Racing, Driving, Traveling just about everything and I have over loaded that thing by 36,000 pounds and it still didn't faze that truck. Now I had a Imported truck for 2 years and that was a NIGHTMARE, It broke down in the first month, The rear end basically went out on me from pulling the heavy loads, it screeched, made rattling noises, FELL APART!, Chipped up, Dented up like a tin can, I was constantly tuning up the Engine, The transmissions clutch burned up TWICE, The Power windows went out, The radio stopped working right, hmm I can go on all day. My truck has never had any of those problems and the Problems it does have is just because its old, And the Import started Rusting in 2 years were as my Ford is 37 years old and don't have ANY rust at all. So How do people dare say that Imports and European cars are better then American cars? I mean I thought "HEY This truck looks nice it might be more comfortable to drive then my old Ford" But Oh god was I wrong. I think all this stuff about how Great Imports and Europeans are is just a bunch of bull! BTW the truck was a Toyota, and I didn't put over weight loads on it

  • Answer:

Only the expensive European cars get imported to the USA. Europe makes plenty of cheap cars--Vauxhall in the UK, Renault out of Italy and tons of little French cars to name a few. Also note that cheap European cars tend to be made in Eastern Europe. Germans drive VWs, but they also drive their cheaper brand which is built in the Check Republic. PS - avoid generalizations, which your post tends toward.

the thing is american cars a reliable because they are simple, european cars are high tech with smaller engines that are more highly tuned, but in England cars arnt breaking down all the time, in fact its the american imports that are the worst, plus toyotas are japeneese.

I agree with you, I think european cars (excluding german models such as BMW and Mercedes) are generally a lot less reliable than their american counterparts.
