What is a realistic budget when renting in Philly?

Why is Budget renting cars for $17 a day and $129 a week?

  • 7 days of 17$ comes to$119. you're losing $10 if you rent for whole week than by day Doesn't Budget ever think that people will realize this out

  • Answer:

Most people won't do the math and think 129 bucks a week is a good deal. Also on rental cars if you go by the day the 17 bucks may be for week days and the weekend will have a different rate. So in the end 129 dollars for a week may be better if they change rates on the weekend! It is what is known as a marketing ploy to attract people thats all.

Try driving from San Francisco to Vermont and back in a Budget Rent a Car. Sometimes convenience is worth the extra cost. But if you only needa car for 2-3 days, they have a deal for you. When you get off the planeand there are 6 car rental places right there, Budget needs to have the edge on the others. Some companies won't let you leave beyond a certain distance. There's all kinds of stuff to renting a car. Suppose some idiot smashes into your new Beemer and it'll be in the shop for 6 days getting fixed. Awuoh!

It's not one of those things like if you buy in bulk you get a better deal. They probably just want their cars back sooner rather than later and will tack on an extra $10 if you keep it for more than a week. It's not in their best interest to let people keep the cars for a long time for less money than if they drove it just a little and gave it back quick.
