When can i get my Drivers License?

  • When is the soonest i can get my Drivers License in NY? I am 16 and have 50 hours of driving and my birthday was Jan 29. And can i get something were i can only drive to school and work before i get my license?

    I also live in NY, you can get a permit at 16, which means you drive with someone that has a drivers license, you can not drive anywhere unless your willing to take a risk without another driver in the car. One week after your 17, you can get a class DJ license, with that you can drive to school and home ONLY SCHOOL AND HOME. but if your parents want they can sigh some papers from the DMV that lets you drive anywhere in NY but you can only be on the road from about 6am to 9pm. One week after your 18 you get your class D or E license and you can drive where ever you please. P.S: your parents can sigh the papers the same day you get your class DJ license.
