How to convince my dad to let me get a job so i can get a car?

  • well i want to buy this car and i have enough to purchase the car, so i thought about insurance and figured if i got a job that my dad would let me get a car because i can pay for it, he wont let me et the job so ultimately i cant get the car because he complains about how high insurance would be, i could pay for the insurance if i had this job, im leaving for the marines in 9 months and told him id post the car on craigslist before i left he claims he wants to spend as much time as we can together before we leave, we dont spend much time together now anyways so he is just using that to not let me get the car or the job, im almost and probably the only kid begging his dad to let him work rather than the dad making the kid get the job, how can i convince him to let me get the job so i can get the car

    Start using his car for every little thing if he lets you borrow it. Until he gets sick of his car being used all the time and maybe he will let you buy a car of your own.

I gather you are still in school until next year. After graduation you enter the military. A car at this point is not a good thing. The money you have saved you need to keep for now. Just keep working on your grades. These will follow you for the rest of your life. You might want to go to college later on.By keeping your money, once you enter active duty, you may be able to afford a nicer/newer car that right now. Insurance is very high for young people as well. If you need money for those types of expenses you really cannot afford a car. You will be working just to have the car and will have very little extra time to enjoy your family and friend before you ship out. Just think about this. You have plenty of time to start earning a pay check and to be able to afford a vehicle. Good luck.
