If provisional permit is lost can you replace it?

Can I use an old permit in replace of a temporary lost drivers license?

  • Hello. So, I got my license in Texas two weeks ago on December 14, 2011. I was Christmas shopping over the two weeks and when I went to return something without a receipt and the lady asked for a valid ID or license. I went to pull out my paper copy license the DPS gave me and it wasn't there. After searching through my purse for 10 minutes, the lady asked if I had my old permit on me, which I did, and used it instead. I drove home and looked for my license all day yesterday. Nowhere to be found. I need to go to town and get some things done, but I don't have my license. I was wondering if I could use my old permit since I only got my license two weeks ago? They already have my license in the system, so can't they just see that I am who I am by seeing my permit and look up my license in the computer if I get pulled over?

  • Answer:

Keep all of what you have together ( including the payment stub for the license ) and go about your business. If you get pulled over, you still have a better chance of NOt getting a ticket, It beats staying home until your original license arrives in the mail. And drive safely..... Good Luck
