My western snow plow wont move?

Do I have to move my car off the street after it snows in Philadelphia?

  • This is a dumb question but I'm from a suburb where we aren't allowed to park on the streets so i don't know how city parking/ snow removal works. I park my car on the street. After a snowstorm, I'm required to move my car off the streets so the snow can be removed? Or do they just plow the snow on the main road and I have to shovel my car out of the snow? I live on Chester Ave. I don't know if I should buy a $200 parking pass for the winter if I have to shovel a parking spot just to have it taken.

  • Answer:

Depends if it's parked on a Philly Snow Emergency Route. If a Snow Emergency is declared, the City will plow the 110 miles of snow emergency routes from curb-to-curb. This means owners of vehicles and dumpsters must move them to alternate parking places. Read the rest here: (scroll down to IF A SNOW EMERGENCY IS DECLARED) http://www.phila.gov/streets/snow.html Also, scroll down to SNOW EMERGENCY ROUTES for the list of streets that would be plowed.
