If i get my permit at 15 1/2 can i get my license at 16 without taking the expensive drivers ed?

So you think you know how to drive after only 6 months with a learners permit. I've got news for you, even with a license at 16, your driving privileges will still be restricted! Trust me you'll need to take a drivers ed course. We don't need you on road without it! If you don't take a drivers ed course your insurance rates will be higher!

It depends on what state you are in. Every state has different laws. Here in Tn they gave me a paper to fill out that had how many hours he had to be driving during daylight hours and night time hours. Then his driving times were restricted. He could only be out on the road til 10:00 P.M unless he had a 18 year old relative in the car and he could not have more than one passenger in the car at a time. Other states have it that if you do not do the drivers ed you have to wait til you are 18 to get a license. You can not even get a learners permit without drivers ed. So call your local D.M.V and see what the rules are for your state.
