I have a question about my drivers license.

Texas drivers license question?

  • I live in Texas, and I am (hopefully) getting my driver's license tomorrow. Assuming that I pass, I'm pretty sure they give a paper license until they mail you your real license? Can I still drive by myself if I only have a paper license? Are there any restrictions involved with having a paper license that would not be involved with having the real license?

    First off can I just say this is so weird! You see I too am going to take my driver's test tomorrow, lol. Anyhow, if you pass the exam they will give you your license. You will go take your picture and give the info. necessary. Only thing is it will take them awhile I assume so you will get the paper. Yes, you can drive around with the paper license until your new one gets to you. I don't think there are any restrictions aside from the obvious rules, so you will be okay. I just got a new driver's lic. They give you a temporary lic. with your picture on it. Actually it looks just like the one you will get in the mail except it's on paper and in black and white. You can use it just like a reg. one. good luck
