How much does paint scratch repair cost?

Do you have to paint the whole car to repair deep scratch? Please help..?

  • I was taking the clothes out of the dryer and for some reason I wasn't thinking so I put the laundry basket on top of my girlfriend's parents' 1960 something Firebird... The basket left a pretty deep scratch, visible.. I don't want to be a jackass so I'm going to pick up the bill to repair it or repaint the whole thing... How much does a good paint job cost? To repair or paint the whole car or buy the tools to paint it myself? I'm a college student, but I will work over the summer... strewed up pretty bad this time... This is my friend's yahoo answer account if you wonder...

  • Answer:

Most body shops can spot repair a scratch and feather in the new paint to blend with the old, at worst you may have to paint the whole roof. No need to paint the whole car.

If that car was in mint condition then you should probably have the whole thing painted. They say they can match the paint to the color and blend it but it still just never looks right if you got someone looking thats able to notice it. It they dont care about the car then yea you can just have that area repainted.

Please say it's not a Trans Am. NO, with modern paint mixers it can be sprayed just enuf to blend in, but a lot of that is TALENT.$200-$1000. BEFORE THAT, go to auto parts store and get a Duplicolor paint pen, Read and FOLLOW direction. $3. They make over $10M/year on those pens.
