My FedEx tracking update says delivery exception what does it mean?

What does delivery exception mean having to do with fedex?

I ordered an iPad and I got an update saying the package was in transit, now it says delivery exception. What does this mean? Earlier today, I saw a fedex truck pass by my house. I called up fedex and they said everything was fine. HELP!
Answer:

It means they asked Apple to grant them until 8pm tonight to delivery us our new pads because they are overextended on orders. I just spoke to a FEDEX rep and that's what they confirmed. We must just sit and wait. :(
