How do I go about getting a car insurance?

How do I go about getting my car repaired (insurance & auto body shops)?

• Yesterday afternoon a rock flew up & hit the hood of my car, it left 3 scratches along the hood of my car. I called the insurance co. & they just sent a man out to do an appraisal. We have a $500 deductable on our car insurance (full coverage) & the man quoted the repair at $704. So what do I do now? My husband said that if I go around to the different repair shops & try to get a cheaper quote, say for $400, that we would only need to pay $200 out of pocket since our quote was for $200 over our $500 deductable. I just need some guidance in this process. Any info (a numbered list on what is going to happen next would be great!) you can post below would be helpful! Thank you.

  Did you get the $204 check? If so, you can do that. You're on your own. If the body shop bills your insurance, you will pay the $500 deductable.
