How do it I disconnect an unused security system?

How much should it cost to disconnect VATS security system bypass so I can install remote car starter?

  • I went to PC Richards to have a viper remote car starter in. In order to do it they must install some sort of bypass of the key chip security system. The good news is I won't have to deal with it anymore, the bad news is they are going to charge me $80 to get it disconnected. This in addition to the viper system and the basic install. Sounds expensive to me because I thought it was only a few wires.

So, remote start is so important to you that you are content to make your car easier to steal? Where's the logic? There is no reason in the world for doing that. A true professional should not compromise the security system to install remote start. If your car is stolen while the security system is shorted in some manner expect some pointed questions from an insurance investigator. Pay a few extra dollars and have it done properly. Your security, by the way, is called a Pass-Key II, and the proper module AND installation will still allow the security system to operate properly.

Just wait until the complete system gets messed up and the car won't start at all! Then you'll pay the tow bill and the dealer mechanics to remove the viper crap and restore the car to stock so it at least runs again!
