Mustang acceleration problem?

Car engine acceleration problem. Please help?

• I dont know much about fixing cars, but Ive been getting acceleration problems on my car (small 1.5L coupe). From idle to starting acceleration, my engine rumbles midway of acceleration, then then dies (no acceleration, just rumbling, rpm goes up but no speed!). Whenever that happens, i have to either let go of the gas completely and re-gas it, or push it harder so it goes on high rpm and accelerates too hard. It feels like my car has problems shifting gears whenever i dont give it enough gas. Another main problem is at high rpm, it feels like my car is dragging something really heavy behind it, while not going very fast. Like im dragging another car... or i have a car filled with people. This hasnt happened in the past. Started approx. a month ago. Before, this car was quick on acceleration and shifting gears was okay. -- Do you think its because of clogged fuel injectors? dead spark plug? Im going to add fuel injector cleaner to my gas next time to see if it helps. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

  Does your car have a standard transmisson? If it does it sounds like your clutch is slipping. The clutch transmitts the power from the engine to the transmission/drive train. When it slips accelerating can be difficult Usually this means you have to replace your clutch. To do this you need to take the transmission out. THis can be expensive. If you have an automatic transmission the problem is likely internal in the transmission.
