  • 2000 dodge ram van 3500 5.9 Keeps cutting out and jerking at over 4o mile per hour,, I changed the fuelpump and filter ,, but still dose it,, also I was told that my make and model will show a code if the problem was the catalyic convertor ,,,, do you know if this is true or false ??? I had a guy put his code reader on my van and he said it only showed that I had one ( 1 ) back fire ,,, he was correct ,, but it did not show why or what caused the back fire or the other problem of cutting out and jerking,,,,also the engine check light came on when this happened a few times but not all the time ,, The guy said the code reader showed nothing ,,,What should I do ???? also is there a backpressure sensor on my van ? if so where ? thank you

  • Answer:

"No Back Pressure Sensor" Mostly ECM Codes show you where to start and the Area(s) to look at. [One Back Fire, Cutting out & Jerking] Sounds Like Bad Plug Wires, Possible Bad Timing Belt, Loose Spark Plugs, Injectors need to be Cleaned.
