How to repair a leaking boat?

Brought boat to mechanic for repair and its now in worse shape then when I dropped it off. What can I do?

  • I brought my boat in for repair (nearly four months ago) because a spark plug was seized in the engine. The mechanic has created additional problems and doesn't seem to know what he is doing. The boat is in worse shape now than when I dropped it off and the mechanic is refusing to do any more work on the boat until I pay him. He claims that he is "running out of money". I used this mechanic because a repair shop that I had used in the past referred me to him because they didn't specialize in the problem I needed fixed. I was willing to pay to have the original problem corrected but I don't feel like I should pay for problems the mechanic created and I don't trust him at this point to pay him up front when my boat is in such bad shape. What can/should I do?
