How To Buy Road Rash?

Possible to fix road rash with touch up pain and lacquer thinner?

  • Hi. I have a alot of road rash at the front of my car, and using touch up paint with a brush is out of the question. I saw how dr colorchip works, it is basically thinned paint that can get into the rashes of the paint. Then the access is wiped off with the solution. So is it possible that I thin the touch up pain with lacquer thinner then smear it over the rash? Then after it dries a bit I can wipe off the access on top with a cloth damped in lacquer thinner? The idea is to get the paint into the rashes, wiping off on top should not remove the paint settled in the rash. Thinning touch up paint with lacquer thinner doesnt make the color lighter does it? Also can any lacquer thinner be used or any specific one for car paint? Cause I dont want to obviously damange the paint. Thanks

  • Answer:

The term "road rash" refers to the scrapes & loss of skin caused by sliding down the hiway after a motorcycle accident. Go ahead & try what you saying on just 1 or 2 small out of the way places & if it worls OK then do the whole car.

road rash is what you get from fallin off a motorcycle on pavement wen goin 50mph. dr. color chip wud b the way to go for ur bumpper

No newer paint IS NOT lacquer any more. find a local car dealer they will have a person who comes in to do touch ups and its is more than rubbing some paint in and wiping off with reducer. Properly done road rash and chips need cleaned, loose paint removed and the surfaces prepped. Most of the good chip fix and paintless dent repair use air brushes rather than paint brushes. And the new paint may never stick unless properly applied. Honestly if you need road rash and chips fixed talk to local shops many will repair it much better, and if its on flexible bumper cover it need flex agent added so it wont crack.

No your idea will not work and yes lacquer thinner will damage the paint if left on very long at all.
