2005 Equinox hood latch will not release hood. How do I get it to open?

  • The hood latch will not release the hood. The cable is still connected to the release button. My husband in an attempt to open it finally disconnected the cable at the latch attached pliers to the cable to pull harder, and it still will not pop. The cable is still connected to the catch under the hood because you can hear it clicking when the cable is pulled, but the hood will not release. Anyone know how to get the hood open? Thanks

    Take it to a dealer. I would not want to damage anything by doing it myself.

Try pushing down on the hood gently while the cable is pulled, could be just stuck. Otherwise go to a body shop.
