How much does an orthopedic technician make?

How much does an entry level auto technician make?

  • Im considering going to Universal Technical Institute in Orlando for their automotive program, and to take the Nissan program as an elective, I'd love to work for Nissan What I'd like to know is the $33k i plan to spend on my education really going to be worth it once I become a certified tech? How much will an entry level technician make if he goes to work for a big time and busy dealership like Universal Nissan (dealership around the corner from my house)

  • Answer:

You would be better off going to a community college auto tech program. The big chain type schools have a bad reputation for students finishing and not really being able to work, the though is everybody passes because its a paid program unlike a real college. That being said the large chain schools churn out thousands of techs and many of them are good. You will start as an apprentice making around $12 and hour. You will get regular bumps and become a flat rate tech (dealerships love flat rate) where you will after the apprenticeship make around $25 an hour, but that is flat rate. You can make better if your fast.
