I have Ford Taurus starting problem.

I have an electrical problem with my 1999 ford taurus steering column?

  • on my ford Taurus the steering column has no power so my air bag light is on and my cruise control and horn don't work, I've checked all the fuses and relays but I still can't find the problem has anyone had this problem before??? and if so how did you fix it???

  • Answer:

It sounds like the "clock spring" may have failed. The clock spring is the wiring that feeds power to all of the controls that you are having problems with.It is a tape-like coil of wiring inside the top of the steering column. NOTE! if you attempt to repair this yourself, disconnect the battery negative cable and wait at least 30 minutes before working on the column to avoid deploying the air bag.

not to be a wise azz but go to mechanic....electrical problems are hard to diagnose and hard to fix....you don't want to be messing with airbag unless you know what ur doing
