How do you remove the side panels?

How to i remove the plastic bumpers and side panels of the 2005 ford escape?

• they have turned from black to gray so i want to take them off and get them paint?

  The front bumper comes off after removing the grille and detaching a number of round plastic retainers.Remove the ones on the bottom too.Then remove a bolt with a 8mm head from the rear edges of the bumper where it meets the fender near the wheel.Then pull it forward and off. The rear is basically the same but easier.Look for the black round head plastic retainers and remove them.There will be on each side near the wheels a 8mm head bolt like in the front.Undo them then pull the bumper rearward and off. The side panels are fastened on with a strong adhesive tape.It is best to leave them o for masking and painting.
