How do I hook up a second car battery?

How can i use my car booster battery pack thing to hook up a lamp?

  • power is out and i have one of them car booster pack things and it stores alot of power, theres a lighter output thing on that i want to use but can i use a regular lamp to hook up to it by cutting the wires and puttin it to a lighter poer output thing on it if anyone nos how can can explain tha best you can

    If you have an AC inverter you can use it. You will plug it into the battery booster's cigarette lighter, and you can directly plug the lamp into the AC inverter. But be warned. AC inverters arent very cheap and the battery will die VERY quickly.

no that will not work. you can buy emergency lights for use in your car that will plug into it.

no you can not simply do that to make your lamp work. one is ac and one is dc. you would need to go through an inverter.

Actually, you can buy all kinds of 12 volt light bulb's and 'fixtures' so to speak from spot lights to drop lights. Take a trip to Autozone.

Let's see, a house lamp takes 120 volts. A car battery puts out 12 volts. You're about 10 times low voltage so no it won't work. Oh! You might get a little glow out of the lamp but not even enough to read this. Don't go sticking wires into the lighter power output thing, you'll short out the car battery and then you won't be able to drive either.

it's a matter of volts, you can't mix 12 volts with 110, you can run it through a inverter to make 110 AC or use a 12 volt DC bulb, I've done both.. Check ebay.com for inverters or use a old tail light and remove the red lens..
