Is this noise from EGR Valve Normal?

What leak would cause water to be in the EGR hose and housing?

  • I have a 2002 Galant and me and my boyfriend believe that water is leaking from the coolant system and its ending up in the EGR valve hosing and housing. Here is what we have so far... We took off the EGR valve, because my car threw a code that said something was up with it. When we got the sucker off water came POURING out of one of the hoses that looks like it comes out from the center of the engine. We thought that it was just condensation since my water tank was full and did not appear to be emptying. We put everything back together. Few days after I noticed my car was in the red and starting to over heart. Popped the hood and my water tank was completely empty. Weird I thought, but not thinking to much more about it I just filled it up. Today I checked it again after driving my car some distance and the water tank was completely empty again. Great, now I know there's and issue. We popped the EGR value off again and only a little water poured out this time and then stopped. We got curious so we twisted off the radiator cap and water began pouring of the same ERG hose as before. We twisted back on and it stopped. Twisted it off and it started up again. Just for kicks we broke out the wet/dry vac and blew air into the radiator and water poured out like I just turned on a garden hose. So obviously there is a leak. BUT FROM WHERE? I really do not have the money for my car to get worked on by a mechanic so basically am looking for some advice or theories on my situation so I can do the dirty work myself. If any of you guys have any ideas please let me know! OH! P.S. This last summer I believed I had a leak of a different nature in my car, which went unfixed because it stopped. However I noticed that when I made turns in my car, a water/sloshing noise comes from the front passenger area (like behind the glove-box) and I noticed that a few drips of water would come in into the carpet/floormat after turning and it making that noise. My floor would be soaked and it sounded like there is a half full cooler in the glove box. Soooo like I said it has stopped, but mostly likely might be the cause of the water in my EGR valve hose and housing. Thanks!

  • Answer:

According to what you have stated, that there is water leaking in to the EGR port and when pressure is put to radiator it pours out EGR system, there only 1 explaination, the head gasket has blown out on the exhaust port of your motor. Thats real bad. The 2nd, leaking water in car, passanger side. Thats your heater core leaking, not so bad to repair. And unless you know a mechanic, its going to be a expensive repair.
