How much does it cost to rebuild mustang?

  • hey, my dad has had 7 mustangs put underneath pine trees for over 15 years, and i picked the one thought as in the best shape to fix up. it is a 1973 light blue mustang convertable. now, this car was outside threw some pretty bad storms and someone took the hood off of it. i have the hood, and all that. there is a green mustang right behind it that is the exact same model but in green, and that one has its hood, but has no trunk. i realy want to fix up my car, i have put so muc effort into it, i go down to where the cars are and work on it everyday.please help me, my sister says the frame of the car is rotten, bit i went and checked it out and it doesnt seem too bad, all that realy concerns me is the bottom of the car, the carpet, the hood(which i have but do not know how to put back on) and the convertable part(which was taken off) all i want to know is how much money it will cost to fix up this car, how long it will take, and some good places to buy parts for the car. thank you, please help... :D

  • Answer:

along with the pell grant that came out spring break (completely irrelevant), Obama has also sent an order that in the year 2016, any car that gets less than 35mpg cannot be sold or driven on the road so those cars will basically be antiques. however i do believe they will let you drive it if you pay extra costs, so then it becomes a luxury to drive one. Did you think about this yet? yep this pissed a lot of people off

yep green mustangs tend to be green .first investment if I were you is buy a repair manual . you'd be amazed at knowledge you can learn

want to sell any If I was rebuilding one : $1500-$2500 new motor $2500 drive train $2000 interior $5000 body & paint That would give me a fair car

once you really get going restoring the car you will find out it's going to cost big bucks to get it the way you want it, it's cheaper right now to go out and buy a 73 mustang convertible already done than it is to do what your thinking about doing.

A 73 Mustang? If its a GT, go for it. To rescue a mustang that's been off the road for 15 years and is in an area where corrosion happens on cars will cost you....easy 15,000. But for parts, go to yearone.com

Any car sitting for 15 years is going to take a lot of time and money, depending how far you want to get into it mechanically then the cosmetics. Mechanically could cost your easy $5,000 then for the rest an easy $5,000+. Assuming you do most of the work yourself. If serious I would take some automotive classes at your local JC plus subscribing to the auto-zone web site under repairs, the all data repair section for your vehicle. for parts do a web search for mustang parts, as there are a lot of places to get parts. to get money for this save what you need from the other mustangs then sell the rest on e-bay or craigs list.
