Vauxhall cavalier running problem.

Vauxhall Astra 1.4 Exclusiv Losing Power...?

  • We recently purchased a 2011 plate (9 month old) Vauxhall Astra 1.4L Exclusiv Petrol. About a week and a half after purchase we took the car on it's first big outing and the car seemed to lose all power. On the motorway the top speed would just reach 60mph and this was when the accelerator was right to the floor. Going up hills was a near impossibility and could only be done in first gear at a top speed of 10mph. I don't recall seeing any warning lights on the dashboard. We got to our destination and left the car to sit for approx 2 hours. We were surprised to find that on the way home the fault had disappeared. The car drove perfectly. We have the car booked into Vauxhall on Wednesday as it is still under warranty but I am worried that as the problem appears to be intermittent they won't be able to find the fault. While the warranty with Vauxhall has 2+ years remaining the warranty with the dealership which states ANY fault will be repaired at cost to them runs out 30 days after purchase, so we're running out of time to find this fault! I was wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem and can give us a clue as to what it might be?

  • Answer:

no idea. especially how their was no warning lights. i was going to say catalytic converter but this is too fast to happen & the problem dissapeared.
