What's wrong with my snowmobile?

I let the gas sit in my snowmobile and now It won't start. Whats most likely the problem?

  • its a articat 500 zr fuel injected. 2 stroke. Thanks for any help.

  • Answer:

The first thing I would do is empty the gas tank and carburetor and fill with fresh gas. Then next thing I would do is replace the spark plugs. If that doesn't help then I would clean out the carburetor.

Other answers

It really depends on how long you left the gas in your snowmobile. Contrary to popular opinion, gas does not turn into jelly after a few months, not even after a year or two, it just loses some of it's more volatile ingredients. You should be safe to just drain your tank, clean your spark plugs and see if you can get it cranked up. Odds are good that this is all you'll need to do to get it running again.

Gummed up injectors

Most likely the injectors are gummed up. Take it to a dealer to be cleaned.
