• About a couple days ago I started to notice a weird like whining sound coming from the car upon starting it and driving it and I thought it may be related to the cold.(It was around 10F) and I have heard alot scarier sounds in other cars but it persisted and today at a green light I took my foot of the brake and the car didnt even move I gave it gas and it seriously felt like a CVT when I was accelerating. Why is this happeneing. The car barely has 40k! I just got it last month and I am a student I can't just spend lots of money on a transmission I spent basically all my savings on this car everyone told me to buy a Nissan I didn't want to buy a 500 dollar beater that would die in a week I wanted something good but now this is happening. Why?

If you would have researched even a little bit on the 2005 Nissan Altima, you would have discovered thousands of complaints about transmission reliability concerns. Nissan has had major reliability problems with there transmissions for the last decade and have been slow to respond to customer complaints with proper warranty service. As for your transmission, I would recommend taking it to the dealer to properly diagnose the problem. You are probably over the time limit on warranty, but are still low on miles. There may be some room for negotiation that won't leave you stuck with the full amount of the repair cost. It no surprise that you would expect the transmission to last for more than 40k miles, if persistent enough, you may be able to get the entire cost of the repair covered under warranty.
