    We can assume the engine is flooding with gasoline, and the most likely causes are a bad air mass sensor, stuck fuel pressure return line, or leaking injector. All of which are easily checked with a fuel pressure test.

VERY simple issue! But hard to explain. I am a MERCEDES technician. YOur engine requires ONLY synthetic oil that does NOT make sludge, NO wax based cheap oil can be used in them. Remove your AIR CLEANER to get a view of things. On the front and top of engine to the right will be the IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, which has an electrical connector and is removed with a 10mm headed socket bolt. It has TWO large rubber hoses connected that are HARD abit to dislodge. It can be cleaned out with GUMOUT and other spray cleaners. It fine tunes your fuel mixture and gets clogged up with BAD oil vapors over time, especially if you are NOT using the recommended synthetic oils. Your injectors are AIR ENSHROUDED and very special. Once you get IAC cleaned up and re-installed, the engine should at least start and stay running. Once it DOES< use a 13mm open end wrnech and lossen ALL EIGHT fuel lines connected to the fuel distributorr, the aluminum box with fuel lines attached to it. This relieves the fuel dirt, and cleans out the fuel lines. Run the engine and loosen these one at a time. You will SEE the rust and junk escape out of the lines as you do so!! RUn GUMOUT through the visible ALUMINUM BOWL revealed after the air cleaner is removed. You CANNOT miss it. The thrttole body is underneath it. Run SEA FOAM along with the gumout to clean the invisible throttle body under the bowl plate bottom. This will clean your piston tops, rings, and valve heads. Black smoke should run out your tailpipe and the injection system should reset. It is a BEAUTIFUL and wondrous design. Only GERMANIC cars got this type of fuel injection. NEVER attempt to replace the plug wires as they will last FOREVER as long as your engine does. They are MODULAR and parts of the wire can be replaced, like the plug end or the distributor end. Remove the distribotor caps and replace the ROTORS! THey have a resistance built into them that breaks down over time and causes hard starting. Clean the dist terminals with a light filing. Try these things first, and E-mail me back as i have OTHER things to try to get things back to NORMAL!!! A clean IAC valve is VITAL to proper ffuel mix and running. Keep my address handy!!

Flooded with what? Oil, Gas, Coolant? Sounds like spark isn't igniting the fuel. Could be pressure regulator is stuck open and letting to much fuel in. Hard to tell with out having it in front of me. How much fuel is in there?
