How to fix a purge flow problem on a 1997 honda accord obd2 code p0441?

  • i have a 1997 honda honda accord that was sitting for a couple months then i put it back on the road 3 days later my check engine light came on i took it to a shop and had the codes run and it was the purge flow emissions like evap but after 5 hours and a refill the check enging light went off but 2 days after this the light came back on and this time wont go off for 4 days now burning alot of gas how to fix would be very appriciated

  • Answer:

If you top up your gas tank to get the most in the gas gets into the charcoal filter, saturates it and when the purge valve opens as it should to pull the stored "fumes" from the canister it draws raw gas instead. You will probably need a charcoal canister with the vent valve, need the purge lines blown out with compressed air and a new purge valve may also be needed.
