Engine shaking when in neutral?

96 Grandam Car stals engine starts shaking and starts shakes stalls when put in gear engine light flashing?

  • So I was driving got gas I had less than a 4th a tank, put in 10$ i went maybe 3 miles down the road and my car started acting up. The engine felt like it was shaking and i heard the exhaust make an odd sound like a pumping sound however my foot was off the gas. The rpms went up but the car wont move. I Got to a stop. Check engine light is on and flashing which the book says a missfire. I try to start it and it wont start engine shakes alot, then it does start and if i try to put it in gear stalls out that second. its a 96 grand am 2.4 twin turbo I Dont know much about cars and no one will help me. lol

Only way to know is the get the trouble codes read. You obviously have a misfire. What you don't know is if it's a random misfire or one cylinder. Until you know that, you're just shooting in the dark.

Have an OBD2 check done. It will tell what parts malfunctioned.
