Difference between battery chargers?

Why Smart Chargers will not charge a dead battery?

  • Automotive battery charger that will not charge a fully discharged battery. It says in the manual to take the battery to an automotive center to test battery. It is a new battery, we just left a light on and totally discharged the battery. I thought that is why you buy a battery charger? This happen to me once before, but I was able to force the charger to charge

  • Answer:

Tell us about it? Freedom Battery? How long did you charge it & at what Amperage? was the Battery "Fully Disconnected" from the car (Both Battery Cables Off?)? Must be fully disconnected, Cell(s) not bubbling (Dead Cell), Charge at 10 to 12Amps for 4 to 6 hours, Yes New Batteries can be Bad. After all the above doesn't take and have it "Load Tested".

the charger is a piece of crap. the whole point of a charger is to charge a battery. if it wont charge it then the charger is junk, get a new one. i would just jump the car and let the altenator do its job.
