How to fix a scratch?

i made a scratch on my xbox 360 game. i just got it yesterday too :( i was wondering if anyone knows how to make the game work again. and give step by step directions. thank you :)

im pretty sure almost nothing works if the scratch is deep. ive herd every thing from tooth paste to alcohol if you want a new game go to block buster rent the game and switch it or buy a new one and return the scratched game or just keep both if your legit
