Can my MVR be cleared?

Insurance problems about the MVR?

  • Got a question, I got two tickets around 3 years ago that were a city ordinance ticket and that the cop said it would not hit my record. Well I received my MVR when I started with a company that delivered parts and they weren't on there it said "no records found" Well I went to get my insurance renewed and they are saying that it's showing those two tickets. I told them about it and they said they need me to send another MVR record to them to make sure. Could it be possible that it took 3 years before they showed up on my mvr?

  • Answer:

Any ticket is going to show up on your MVR, but it doesn't necessarily mean that they will affect your insurance. Normally, non moving violations will show up but not affect renewals, unless you have an excessive amount in a short period of time. Moving violations could affect your renewal, depending on the company you are with. The tickets should start falling of your record after 3 years... they should be gone after 5.

Other answers

Anything is possible. Usually tickets show up on your record shortly after you are convicted of the charge (either by paying the fine or by the court). However there could have been a strike at the DMV/MOT or any number of reason why it only showed up the second time.
