Can I sell a car with a suspended registration and suspended license?

About Two weeks ago I was pulled over driving my brothers car and was informed the reason for why I was being pulled over was because the registration on his car was suspended. I was completely unaware of this and so was he. We were aware that his license was suspended and will be for another 6 months. I now have to go to court for driving with a suspended registration even though it isnt in my name and it isnt my car. We found out that the reason for the suspended registration was due to an unpaid ticket in New Hampshire and we live in Rhode Island. I took him up there to pay the fine and go to court and I am wondering if since we paid the fine if the registration suspension is cleared? Also, he was recently charged with refusal of a brethaliazer which is a 900.00 fine and is able to make payments on this fine but he recieved a letter in the mail that said on July 5th the registration will be suspended. If the registration is cleared now because we paid the original fine that suspended it, can he sell me his car and can I re register it in my name eithre in Rhode Island or another state before July 5th and be ok to drive it? Also- will I need a lawyer for my court date for driving with a suspended registration that wasnt in my name? or should I be ok becuase it wasnt my car and I was unaware?
