How to transfer car title?

How do I transfer a car title into my name with only a signed title?

• I live in Texas and my car was recently totaled. I came to own this car by my mother buying it for me and me making the monthly payments to her. I have payed it off and she was supposed to put it in my name when I did but it never happened. The check for the car will be in her name and she was talking about keeping it for herself. I have the title that she signed. Is there any way that I can switch it into my name without her signature on anything else but the title? Please help I need this money for a down payment on a new car!

  you have no legal standing unless you have a signed written agreement, or Mom admits to a judge the agreement to transfer titel exists. Mom owns the car. Quit claim is for real estate deeds, not car titles..
