When can i get my driver's license?

I am 17, I want to get a CA drivers license. I will turn 18 in 6 months, So when can I get my License, help?

  • Iam going to get my permit in 2 months. But I heard when your a teen you have to bee driving foe 6 months with a permit until you can get your real licence. so I will be 18 on april 30. When can I get my real official california drivers lisense?

    You can get your driver's license at 18 even though you have only had your permits for less than 6 months. If you're already 17 1/2, you are not required to take drivers education and driver's training (but you *should*) to get your permit. The 6 month rule only applies to teen drivers who are not yet 18.

In addition to what mauisunset said: If you are over 17 ½ but under 18 years of age, you may get your permit without the driver education and driver training certificates however, you will not be able to take the driving test until you turn 18.
