Drivers license restrictions?

Graduated Drivers License/Provisional License (17 Years Old) Passenger Restrictions?

  • I'm a 17 year old in NJ and I get my full license when I turn 18 in November. My question is, can I drive my 15 year old brother and my 16 year old neighbor to school next year? (Before November) I know I can drive both of them after my birthday in November but can I during September and October?

  • Answer:

In my state (Arkansas) you can only have 1 unrelated minor in the car with you. If you are related you can take him/her wherever. So in my state, yes you would be able to. Not sure about NJ though. It should say in the drivers manual, which you should be able to access online.

You're really only allowed one passenger, but I believe special exceptions are allowed in some cases. This could be allowed as long as they see that it is necessary. Consult your DMV to be sure.

Your brother yes(most likely) . The neighbor is not a family member, so if you get into a car accident, guess who is going to sue your "Azz" off ? Because you are a taxi service and are not insured for that. so they take the house. Check with your local DMV and get it clear in your head as to what you are allowed to do and what is forbidden fruit.
