How to prove someone hit you car?

I just recently received a letter in the mail from my car insurance companie that my car was involved in a hit?

• And run about 2 weeks ago, now note my car has no damage done to it and I have no knowledge of anyone driving my car around that time. The police report states that a driver hit victims car and took off without gathering info they have my description of car and plate number so the finger points my way I'm not sure if someone is using my information as a claim to get money for insurance but this person has filed a police report. Against the car I guess as a hit and run, if there is no damage how can someone even say that I severly damaged their car when my car was home. How should I go about this claim or issue with the insurance should I file a report or let the case prove itsself....note insurance hasn't tooken pictures of my car but pretty sure there car is on file is it possible someone could b filing a false claim not sure why my car and how to prove it wasn't me

  Notify your insurance company that you were not involved in the hit and run. If the police contact you, tell them that too. Your insurance company is obligated to defend you, you do not need to pay for your own attorney (unless criminal charges are filed).
