Car Registration in Queensland?

What registration and roadworthy conversion costs are associated with purchasing a car interstate in Australia?

  • I live in Victoria and am considering buying a car out of Queensland or NSW but I'm not up with how much it would cost to change the registration and all that over between the states? Any help is appreciated, Cheers

  • Answer:

It can be a can of worms! You first must ensure the vehicle has a recent roadworthy cert, they only last 30 days, so make sure it still has plenty of time on it. You will then probably have to have it inspected in your home state, and poss a roadworthy for Vic. This all needs to be done within 14 days of purchase, once inspected and passed, you buy new plates, and can register for Vic.
