Drivers license restrictions?

It says "Al" under restrictions on my drivers license, what does it mean!?!?!?

  • What does "Al" mean in restrictions? I'm 16 and just got it today.

  • Answer:

Alabama Graduated License Program - AL Graduate Driver License Requirements The graduated drivers license law applies only to those who choose to obtain a drivers license or an Alabama learners permit before the age of 18. If you are 18 years of age or older, if you are 17 years of age and have held your restricted drivers license without any violations for at least six months or if you are 16 years of age and are married or have been legally emancipated, the Alabama graduated drivers license law does not apply to you. Found in the Alabama drivers manual, which is supposed to be read prior to applying for your permit or license

The A1 simply indicates that you are 16! And depending on what state you live in there could be a verity of restrictions that may apply to you. Such as the age limits of your passengers, etc. Check with you local DMV to make sure.
