Help Please, Car Title Nightmare?

i traded cars with a friend and we traded car titles before i registered it he said "he needed to show the title to cop because the former owner of the car reported it stolen he just needed it for a little bit" so as a friend i gave it to him he trashed the title and said it flew out the window, come to find out the car was sold to him but he never put it in his name so he cant file for a lost title. in a nut shell he tried to make it so he could get both cars but i have no way of proving i bought the car except that i have the car itself and before giving him the title i took pictures of it with my name on it but dont have the title itself. Is there any way to get a new one?

Without the title, you don't have proof of anything. Take him to court, it's your only option.

You can go to the DMV and have them reprint you his title just show them the bill of sale of even trade. You can also take him to small claims court.
