How long will it take before I am able to get my license?

How long will it take for me to learn how to drive well enough to get a license?

• I will be driving an automatic, not a stick car. The car is a mercury grand marquis, so it is very long in the front and back as well as being very low to the ground. (Just in case this has any effect. ^_^) I have already taken the written/eye test and passed, so I have my 6 month permit. Due to the fact that I can not afford driving lessons, my dad will be teaching me. He was a truck driver, and has a chauffeur licence. He was also a bus driver for a set period of time, so he obviously has a lot of experience. He has taken me out three times this past week for around 1/2 an hour each time. During this time, I have driven on the freeway for about 15 minutes, spent 20 minutes in parking, and the rest was random city driving. This was my first time driving EVER. I personally think that he is going too fast, but he insists that I must get my licence within four months. Basically, I would like to know how long it would take me to pass my driver's test with this environment. I understand that everyone is different and it takes a lot of time for some, and a little time for others, but that is not the kind of answer I want. Though you cannot give me an exact answer, an estimate would be nice. I.E. If I were go to out three times a week for 30-45 minutes each, it would take me X amount of time.

  depends on how long the test is...getting your liscence is a cake walk unless your unconfortable behind the wheel of a car. if your unconfortanble behind the wheel, drive every chance you get.
