What happens if I lie to a cop when pulled over?

• I was pulled over once and a cop gave me a warning ticket to fix my light but he also saw that it was written on my license that I am allowed to drive the car with contact lenses. So he asked me if I was wearing them and I said "No", told the truth. But he still gave me a ticket for that. What if I said "Yes, officer, I am" then what would be the chances that he would know I was lying or flash into my eyes and see? Like when they do give you a test for DUI. I was wondering if they are going to suspend my license. When do they suspend it? I heard that drivers can be put to jail sometimes. When and how it happens? Is driving without license/expired license/ and international license are those reasons people are put into jail for?

  Lying to an officer is a crime! You have the right to remain silent, but to lie is a form of perjury. This can and often does result in two citations instead of one. There is a rule: If you can't afford the time don't do the crime! In this case it is better to be paying a ticket for not having your contacts in, then to be paying a ticket for that and in addition loosing your license. If you would have gotten caught lying, more then likely additional things could have been found to add to the ticket. So don't lie, it only makes the pile of do-do deeper.
