What does it take to run a car dealership?

I have a problem here. My parents went to the car dealership and signed papers&put $ down on car I don't even?

  • want. This is whats going on. They just told me that they went to the Nissan car dealership and put $500 down on a 2009 Altima and signed some papers on a car which I don't even want. The dealership did not run there credit score but they did take my parents insurance info. I am going there first thing Monday morning with my dad..who seems not to know what planet he's in and cancel the contract and get back the $500. I want to know if I can straighten everything out and get my money back. What do I need to do to cancel this contract and not have them sucker anything out of me. Please help with some advice. Thank You G

Why wouldn't you want a brand knew car that's free for u? Its also a nice car! 2009!!!!!!!! My parents said i have to get a used car for my first car! you should be very thankful that ur parents r giving it to u for free. and btw you only have 24hrs to cancel the contract ,at least that's what the car dealers at bmw said when my dad bought his new 2009 bmw 328 i x coupe. Good luck!

Sometimes, "earnest money," put down to show that a buyer actually intends to buy a car, is not refundable. You will need to check with the dealership.

You may have a problem trying to get the $500. back. It depends on the dealer. They are going to try like crazy to sell you something else and apply the $500, towards that something else. I have a hunch, though that you are going to be driving a new Altima or a car that was sold to you by that dealer. Your only "out" may be if your parents credit is bad. Good luck BTW, In case someone here mentions it, In the USA, There is no "cooling off" period for the sale of a vehicle.

So...your parents are buying you a car and your complaining? Grow up. Also - unless the contract has a provision allowing you to break it - you can't. The dealership can turn around and sue you for breach of contract.

Maybe your Dad is not buying the car for you. Maybe he is getting it for himself. Your Dad signed the sales order / contract, there is nothing you can do to cancel / void it.
