When's the best time to buy a brand new car?

Im fixing to buy a used car. what is a good brand car that will last a long time?

• im looking for a reliable car that will get me back and forth to work and to get my son to the babysitter everyday. im not good with brands. i really need to know what a good brand car would be. not a brand new car but a used good brand car.

  You probably won't believe my answer. If you have enough money to buy a late model Honda...that is what everyone else wants and is most reliable according to statistics....I am in the car biz all my life and i don't have enough money....or, considering i know a few things about cars i tend to opt for the cheaper and most reliable brands. Find a 2003-2005 Dodge Neon in good shape with 120K or less miles on it and hopefully you'll get all the service records and they already changed the timing belt. Just change "all the fluids" regularly and you will have a good running vehicle that is cheap to repair for many years. Many, many "1st generation" ('95-99) Neons still running around....tough little cars...good on gas and the only long term expense issues are blown heads from old timing belts and transmission repair because the fluid wasn't changed enough. I've seen em with 450K miles and still running well. I bought mine brand new in '05 for $11,200. Trade in value today is $1850 at best and it still looks good and everything works and it's been meticulously maintained at 130K. I'm not worried, it's not for sale. Never been back to the dealer since i bought it. No breakdowns, ever. Find yourself a deal on a good running Dodge Neon. You won't regret it a few years from now and you can have money for more important things in life.
