Where To Look For Junk Cars?

Cheap cars in the $1,500 range?

• So School starts on Sept 21's and I have to drive 60 miles a day to get up to school and back...yet I have NO car yet. The pops supposedly has a friend that will give me a car, but I don't really trust this guy. The guy I guess has "all these cars" but I think he's one of those people with like a dozen junk'ed non running cars scattered throughout their back yard in the country lol. So I highly doubt that the car I would get if I would even get one from him, would work at all and would need more money put into it than I can just buy my own cheap car that runs. I have about 1,500 for a car to buy if this guys car giving don't work out. I may be able to go a LITTLE higher. I have been checking craigslist a lot, but I don't know a thing about what good cars are and all that. I know to look for a Civic, Accord, Camry and Carolla, but those are the basics. What are some OTHER cars that are good cars that would be in my price range? I've seen like firebirds, mazdas and Cherokees in that range. But yea, let me quit the blabbering. Name good quality cars I should look for on craiglist in the 1,500 range (maybe 2k range and I can talk them down?)
