Do you have to pay taxes on the car you send overseas?

Used car title was messed up by seller and wants me to pay?

  • i bought a used car from a private seller and when she signed off the title she put her name in the spot where mine goes, so i contact her and tell her the problem and she said she wont get another title unless i pay for it..so she get another title and said she will send it after i send her payment for the new title..its like she is asking for ransom for something i had nothing to do with. then she puts a higher price on the title so i will have to pay more taxes ..is this against the law..im in ohio

  • Answer:

Since she isn't cooperating with you to complete the sale, tell her you will return the vehicle for a full refund of what you paid and look elsewhere. If she won't, tell her you will take her to court, and do so.

you dont need a new title. ALl you need is an erasure affidavit, free from the DMV. Fill out the affidavit stating "seller signed in wrong place on title." Then have her sign the affidavit and the CORRECT spot on the title. Very simple. And, no extra costs are involved.
